What this test is
Anti-A and Anti-B reagents are mixed with the patient's red cells on a slide. The pattern of clumping (agglutination) shows which antigens are present and therefore the ABO group.

ABO cell grouping by slide method is a fast way to determine whether your blood group is A, B, AB or O. It is commonly used for screening and for paperwork that requires a blood group.

The slide method gives fast results and suits screening, while the tube method is more sensitive and is used when confirmation is needed, such as in blood-bank work.
Is Rh typing included?
This test covers the ABO system only. If you also need Rh typing or antibody screening, ask our staff and we will advise the appropriate tests.
