What this test is
The test measures CA 15-3 in blood, a protein that can rise in breast cancer and in some liver or lung conditions. Values can change with breast inflammation and liver disease, so a doctor interprets them.

It is not recommended, because sensitivity and specificity are insufficient. Breast screening uses self-examination, clinical examination and mammography by age.
