Most employers require a health check before your first day. This guide covers what to prepare, what is usually tested, and how to get your medical certificate on time.

A pre-employment health check serves three purposes: confirming you are fit for the specific job, identifying health risks in that work environment, and recording baseline results for future comparison. If a health problem related to work appears later, the pre-employment results provide a reference point.
Because of this, the test list differs between companies. It depends on the industry, the role, and the requirements of that employer's safety or risk team.

A standard package usually includes history taking and a physical examination by a doctor, a complete blood count, blood sugar, urine analysis and a chest X-ray to screen for tuberculosis. Many employers add drug screening under their safety policy, and some roles add vision, hearing, lung function or an electrocardiogram.
If your company specifies a particular list, send it to the clinic in advance so the team can prepare and estimate the time needed.
If blood sugar or lipids are included, fast for at least 8 hours; plain water is fine. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours and get a full night's sleep, because sleep loss affects blood pressure and some test values.
For the chest X-ray, tell our staff immediately if you are or may be pregnant, and remove metal jewellery from the chest area before imaging.
The examination and sample collection can be done at the clinic. Most lab results are ready within 30-60 minutes, and the medical certificate is usually issued the same day once the required items are complete. For groups, ask our team to arrange queue and appointment scheduling.
