Chest X-ray screening for tuberculosis, dust-related lung disease and other lung and heart abnormalities, used in pre-employment checks and occupational health surveillance.
What is checked
- Standard chest radiograph
- Reading and reporting by a doctor
- Documentation prepared in the format your organisation requires
- Additional tests or referral arranged when abnormalities are found
Preparation and documents
- Tell our staff immediately if you are or may be pregnant, before any X-ray
- Remove jewellery and metal items from the chest area before imaging
- Mention any recent repeated X-rays so the doctor can take them into account

Does it confirm tuberculosis?
It screens for abnormalities suggestive of TB, but confirmation requires sputum testing and medical assessment. Please also report symptoms and any contact history.
Do I need to fast before a chest X-ray?
No, unless fasting blood tests are scheduled on the same day.
